Resume

Due to the fact that I am extremely particular when it comes to formatting things on the internet, my resume looked no good copied and pasted here. The link provided takes you directly to a neater version of that document.

MFA Art Exhibit.

Every year students in the Masters of Fine Arts degree at the University of Montana show off their work for the public. Larger-than-life ceramic figures by Kensuke Yamada call the Gallery of Visual Arts home for the next two weeks. UM News reporter Rose Stepanek and I look at how one student sculpts a new idea in his presentation.

Cheap Hunting Tags.

Out-of-state student hunters are reaping the benefits of this year's legislative session. Montana Senate Bill 185 lets these students buy hunting and fishing licenses at the same price as residents. Reporter Katrina Heser and I tell the story of one student who is saving money on tags and supporting his tight college budget.

Out of state students looking to buy the combination license need to bring their Griz card, proof of hunter's education, and a transcript to their nearest Fish, Wildlife and Parks office.

Red Cross Blood Drive.

Brawl of the Wild Blood Drive Challenge from Carmen Ebert on Vimeo.

The Red Cross of Montana sponsors a blood drive competition the week before the Brawl of the Wild Football game on each campus. Students have a chance to lift their sleeve and donate their part to help the school win a trophy. As reporter/photographer, I found that students don't have to put on pads to help the Grizzlies win the Brawl of the Wild.

Women's Weightlifting - UM News

Women on the University of Montana campus have a chance to work out in the weight room. Reporter Rose Stepanek and I attended a weightlifting class at the UM Fitness and Recreation Center instructed and attended by women. We came away finding that bicep curls are for the girls.

Aber Day Keg

May 16, 2009 marked the 30th anniversary of the last Aber Day Kegger. Homecoming weekend in Missoula marked the premiere of "Kegger" a feature-length documentary re-living the huge party and it's mainstay in Missoula during the 1970s. Reporter Katrina Heser and I caught up with the executive producer of the film and attended the film's premiere to find that the kegger is still giving back.

White House Deputy Chief of Staff

Alumni and friends flooded back to campus for Homecoming. One UM graduate came all the way from the White House. UM News reporter Katrina Heser and I met up with President Obama's Deputy Chief of Staff Jim Messina and talked about issues facing college students. Messina graduated from the University of Montana in 1993 and says he hopes to return to Treasure State when his time at the White House is done.

Betty's for Beer - UM News

While wine tastings happen in Napa Valley, Big Sky Country sees a variety of beer tastings popping up all over the state. Big Sky Brewing Company in Missoula holds a four-class seminar specifically to help the ladies find their tastes. As a UM News reporter and photographer I take you us to one of those classes and show you one woman's quest to familarize herself with a local brew.

Mountain Brook Studio - Made in Montana spring 2009

"Business: Made in Montana" is a joint project between the Radio/TV Production and Broadcast Journalism students at the University of Montana. We research businesses in the state that produce their wares from the ground up. Then we go out and shoot the whole process from beginning to end and interview the creators to put the spotlight on unique ways to make a living in the Treasure State.

All segments from the class are edited into a half hour program that airs on Montana PBS the following August. MT PBS reaches roughly 90% or more of cable viewers in the state.

Mountain Brook Studio is nestled at the bottom of the Rocky Mountains in northwest Montana near the Lewis Range. Tom and Marcie Briney purchased the property in 1989 and have ran the business, with great success, ever since.

Amanda Cevallos CD Release Party

A joint project between Katrina Heser and myself.

Former local musician Amanda Cevallos held a release party for her newest album at The Badlander bar in early March. Soon after she departed for the Lone Star State to further her career in Texas. We caught her after her show.

Katrina and I both went out and shot the performance and interviewed the subjects, then wrote the story and edited it.

Snuggie Infomercial

As a fun project for our Junior year spring semester, we were asked to produce/direct/edit an infomercial for any product. Two Snuggies were lying around my house and we could not think of anything better.

My main duties for this project were to edit and design graphics.
